We are hiring a Superintendent / Quality Control Manager to support a federal construction project focused on structural concrete repairs at the Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta Maine. The position will begin around late May or June 1 and is expected to last approximately 6 months. This dualrole position requires fulltime onsite presence and combines responsibilities for daily construction oversight and formal quality control management under federal guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the CQC System Manager with full authority to act on all contractor quality control matters
- Oversee all daily field operations including subcontractor coordination safety enforcement and progress tracking
- Manage and implement the Contractor Quality Control (CQC) Plan in compliance with federal specifications
- Conduct and document all inspections tests and quality assurance checks
- Ensure that all work aligns with the scope schedule and applicable standards
- Maintain regular communication with the VA PMs and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and resolve issues
- Prepare and maintain required reports and records for quality control
- Assign and identify a qualified alternate CQC Manager for times of absence
Minimum Requirements:
- OSHA 30Hour Construction Safety certification
- Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors course completed
- One of the following:
- Graduate degree in engineering architecture or construction management
- OR equivalent field experience approved by the Project Manager or Senior Resident Engineer depending on project complexity
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience on projects of similar scope and scale
- Must be employed by the General Contractor and available onsite fulltime for the entire duration of construction
Compensation:
- Competitive hourly rate of $60 $65/hr based on experience and certifications.
