Pay Range: $16.00/hourly. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is NonExemptfrom the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Because this appointment is temporary you will not be eligible to receive all of the benefits normally provided to members of the university staff under the standard University of Colorado benefits programs. You are not eligible to receive paid vacation leave medical or retirement benefits. However you are eligible to accrue sick leave and you will accrue 0.034 hours of sick leave per hour worked.
Summary
Pikes Peak Americas Mountain as it is known forms a breathtaking backdrop for the LEED Gold Certified UCCS Gallogly Recreation and Wellness Center which opened its doors in January 2016. Campus Recreation facilities and programs serve more than 500 students and faculty/staff daily while employing approximately 100 students every year. Campus Recreation professional staff committed to student development and sustainability all while encouraging healthy lifestyles through extensive programs and services.
Campus Recreations mission supports the UCCS mission by providing students and the campus community with diverse programs outstanding facilities and educational experiences that support the development of a healthy mind body and spirit. We enhance the campus experience through programs and services that focus on student development promotion of a healthy lifestyle and provide opportunities for social interaction.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Supervise participants during all year round RecKids programming to include but not limited to Summer Camps Kids Night Out and Birthday Parties. - Supervise and actively participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities includingswimming climbing arts and crafts teambuilding games educational sessions tournament games and more. Includes locker room supervision.
- Assist participants with belongings lostandfound sunscreen/hydration trash pickup and all aspects of quality customer service.
- Ensures RecKids program safety and security enforces all safety and risk management policies.
- Resolve disciplinary problems appropriately; complete incident and accident reports as needed.
- Maintain good relationships with parents of participants.
- Serve as role model in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness punctuality sharing cleanup duties sportsmanship and good manners.
- Enforce Campus Recreation facility program and pool policies procedures and regulations.
- Lead ageappropriate engaging games projects stories sports and activities during all RecKids programming including setup and teardown.
- Remain educated on emergency procedures and ensure procedures are followed when necessary and all RecKids participants are accounted for.
- Attend RecKids staff meetings.
- Complete CSA Training within first month of hire.
- Additional duties as requested by RecKids Administrative Staff.
Tentative Search Timeline
- Priority will be given to applications submitted by: May 20 2025. However this position is open until filled.
- Potential start date: May 27 2025.
RecKids Supervisor candidates must be aged 18 or older.
Must commit to working a minimum of 15 hours/week during the summer and approximately 10 hours per week during the school year at a variety of times throughout the day and week (including weekend and evening hours). Summer Camp shifts are either 7am12:30pm or 12:30pm6pm and may vary week to week.
First Aid and CPR certification must remain valid through the duration of the summer (certification will be provided at no cost to employee during the mandatory training period.)
Previous experience working with children highly preferred.
Formal training child development elementary education early childhood recreation or similar fields preferred.
Previous experience in customer service or public relations is highly desirable.
American Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED certified is preferred.
