Northeastern Junior College is seeking an enthusiastic and selfmotivated individual to serve as the Northeastern Junior College Chair of the Agriculture Department. The Chair of Agriculture serves the Vice President of Academic Affairs providing advice and direct oversight of the daily operations of the Agriculture Department. The Chair oversees the daily delivery of instruction and academic activities and provides leadership and mentorship for faculty and instructors. The Chair builds semester schedules and assigns teaching load and manages departmental budgets. The Chair works with admissions student success marketing and other college departments to encourage enrollment retention and student success.
In this position the Chair also oversees the Rodeo Ranch Horse and Livestock Judging coaches and teams as well as the associated horse stalls and equipment.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be:
- Serve as a mentor to new faculty and advocate for all faculty in the department
- Supervise assigned administrative assistant including performance reviews
- Schedule individual departmental faculty courses assigned to the department in the college course catalog as well as club and committee assignments and advising load.
- Manage faculty absences and travel
- Serve as the firstlevel advisor for student and classroom issues
- Monitor faculty teaching and suggest professional development or other opportunities for faculty growth
- Provide a recommended departmental budget to the VPAA each spring for the following academic year. Include agriculture athletic budgets.
- Recommend to the VPAA proposals for new programs or courses
- Recommend adjunct faculty to the VPAA for potential hiring when needed to support class loading
- Serve on fulltime faculty hiring boards for the department when needed
- Manage and complete faculty performance reviews
- Be a role model for department faculty with regard to following policies and procedures meeting deadlines etc.
- Assist with and provide oversight for other activities and projects conducted within the department such as scholarship boards award ceremonies highschool events etc.
- Participate as required in key academic meetings (Academic Affairs Curriculum and Instruction) or delegate to appropriate faculty.
- Coordinate within the department to ensure student visits registration and advising days are covered by yourself or with appropriate faculty.
- Serve as first point of contact for new and interested students responding to inquiries and recruiting at local events and schools. Ensure that advising folders remain up to date with degrees and emphasis areas.
- Oversee the agriculture athletic programs supporting the coaches with eligibility travel and additional requirements including the horse facility livestock coordination with Logan County Fairgrounds.

What We Require:
- Masters degree in an Agricultural related field
- Minimum two years teaching experience
- Valid drivers license
What We Can Offer:
This is a 0.8 APT position. The Chair is expected to teach at least 6 credit hours per semester with the rest of the load dedicated to Chair activities. Annual salary is $59000$69000 depending on qualifications and experience.
