Job Description
THE POSITION
Are you prepared to take on an exciting seasonal position as a Transportation Construction Inspector with the Department of Transportation We are in search of an exceptional candidate who can handle inspection of material and workmanship on Highway and/or bridge construction projects within Engineering District 40 to ensure all work is completed in conformance with approved construction codes plans standards and specifications. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position you will be responsible for inspecting all aspects of transportation construction activities. Your duties will include assisting in the verification of grades elevations and the layout of structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. You may also oversee the proper placement of materials such as cement concrete bituminous concrete and drainage components relevant to transportation projects. Additionally you will conduct visual nonmovement compaction testing on subsurface strata soils and aggregates. Engaging with Department personnel as well as federal state and local agencies legislators and the public will be essential to ensure the successful management of these projects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- This is seasonal fulltime employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
- You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying design construction or inspection work; or
- Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience which includes reading and interpreting blueprints plans or schematics; or
- One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title as determined by the Office of Administration);or
- Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title as determined by the Office of Administration);or
- One year of construction inspection experience and an associates degree in civil engineering mechanical engineering geotechnical engineering surveying engineering technology or a closely related engineering technology;or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:- This position requires possession of an active noncommercial Pennsylvania Class C Drivers License or equivalent.
