About the Role
In this role youll be a part of the Controls Compliance Risk & Audit (CCRA) organization and report to the Head of Internal Controls and leverage your expertise to manage and implement internal control policies procedures compliance and governance. With a proven track record in large complex organizations youll help us implement a robust internal controls environment that drives compliance and aligns with our business goals. Location:
This hybrid role requires onsite presence 3 days per week at either our Chevy Chase/Bethesda MD; or New York NY offices.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Team Management:
Lead crossdepartment collaboration in CCRA to manage and implement GEICOs Issues Management Program. This will include managing issue intake ensuring consistency in implementation and being GEICOs Issues Management subject matter expert.
Enhance and implement changes to Risk Framework reporting for all Stakeholders. Will partner with Control Officers and CCRA Leadership to ensure we are raising issue trends driving timely closure of issues and increasing organizational understanding of the Risk Framework.
Internal Controls Governance (Risk Framework and Reporting):
Establish self as Subject Matter Expert for Issues Management Program. Manage Issue Intake meeting. Drive accountability for compliance with Issues Management Policy and Procedure.
Develop maintain and implement Issues Management policies and procedures (including Process Inventory and supporting tools) to strengthen internal controls and meet regulatory requirements.
Serve as an Auditboard Platform Admin; oversee system access. Serve as point of contact for all AuditBoard questions.
Develop enhance and implement meaningful Issues Management Reporting.
Ensure data integrity; manage required fields in Issues to drive compliance when opening & closing issues.
Identify Internal Controls requirements required for GRC tool. Automate current manual process in existing GRC tool and build requirements for future tool.
Collaborating with CCRA Peers the candidate is accountable for driving updates and standardization of risk and control processes and identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Support Head of Internal Controls Team with risk and control concerns.
Collaboration and Alignment:
Partner with key stakeholders across CCRA to ensure consistent implementation and reporting of Issues Management program and Risk Framework activities.
Partner with Customer Relationship Manager for AuditBoard; engage with AuditBoard for systems changes/enhancements.
Partner with Vendor Management/Sourcing Team on GRC tool renewals and changes.
Manage onboarding of Risk and Audit contractors (e.g. systems access).
Regulatory and Industry Knowledge:
Stay informed on relevant financial regulations and industry standards.
Represent internal controls interests to the CCRA business leadership auditors and consumers of reports.
Reporting and Communication:
Prepare and present regular Internal Control updates for stakeholders clearly communicating issues assessments and control processes.
Work with Reporting Team to ensure enhancements to AuditBoard are appropriately reflected in reports.
Enhance and implement Internal Control reporting to SLT.
Conduct training sessions for employees to enhance internal controls awareness.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting finance or business or relevant experience.
8 years of expertise in internal controls and / or risk management.
Attention to detail critical thinking and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in a fastpaced changing environment with competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in finance or accounting (CPA CFE CIA or relevant certifications preferred).
Proficiency in data analysis forensic auditing and data visualization tools.
Experience with Risk Management/Internal Controls GRC Tools. Experience in internal controls or risk management in the insurance industry is preferred.
Annual Salary
$121975.00 $189625.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include but are not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the role the selected candidates work experience education and training the work location as well as market and business considerations.
