Job Description

Blessey Marine Services Inc. owns and operates one of the youngest multifaceted inland tank barge and vessel fleets in the United States.

We are in search of a Manager of Compliance & Vetting for our Harahan LA office.


JOB TITLE: Managerof Compliance & Vetting

DEPARTMENT: Compliance and Vetting

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Managethe Ship Inspection Report Program (SIRE) planning/scheduling tracking andresponse activities of the BMS Fleet as per customer requirements. Manage Customer Vetting requests and assistin customer vetting activities by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS:

Functionas the primary point of contact for all SIRE scheduling.

Responsiblefor planning scheduling and tracking of boat and barge SIRE inspectionsincluding management of database for planning and scheduling purposes.

Communicatewith boats and other departments regarding SIRE inspections includingcoordination with Marketing and Logistics departments to ensure boats andbarges are in position for inspection.

Overseecommunication with Marketing for customer identification/purchase orderinitiation including approval and payment.

Managementof daily SIRE tracking list including vessel location SIRE due datecustomer and assigned inspection includes coordination with Operations for preSIRE walkthroughsand inspections.

Overseethe processing of SIRE Inspections including entering inspections intoTowWorks and submission of operator comments to OCIMF website as needed

Manageupdating open items in TowWorks database. (i.e.: add information to the recordor update after verification of completion)

Developand print reports using TowWorks and Excel on a regular basis.

Utilizecomputer applications: Microsoft Word Excel TowWorks and SAP.

Otherduties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to read write and speak English clearly.
  • High School diploma or GED required; College Degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum five years experience in the marine transportation segment.
  • Proficiency in or knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures.
  • Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
  • Attention to detail in composing typing and proofing materials establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient spelling grammar and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Abilityto read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professionaljournals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports businesscorrespondence and procedure to present information effectively and to respond to questionsfrom groups of managers clients and customers

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Abilityto apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions topractical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Abilityto define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions inmathematical or diagram form and to deal with several abstract and concretevariables.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Thisposition requires driving a vehicle as necessary for errands and businessrelatedmeetings. Employee and/or applicant must successfully complete a Motor VehicleHistory check and possess and maintain a current valid drivers license intheir state of residence.
