Job Description

In this full-time role based in Richmond you will be responsible for providing specialist expertise and knowledge in relation to risk compliance and internal audit at Epworth. You will be part of the Legal and Governance team and report to Chief Legal officer.

This is an opportunity to drive meaningful change embed best practice and have real influence across a diverse and growing organisation

You will make an impact by:

  • Leading corporate risk compliance and internal audit management across the group partnering with senior leaders and frontline staff to identify and manage risks in a highly regulated environment.
  • Monitoring compliance across Epworths business reviewing obligation alerts and supporting reporting to ensure adherence to evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitating risk workshops supporting control uplift initiatives and embedding a proactive risk culture at all levels of the business.
  • Providing actionable insights through clear business-friendly reporting for executive and board stakeholders.
  • Supporting the ongoing development of enterprise risk compliance and assurance frameworks and managing the company-wide risk and compliance registers in CAMMS and supporting quality assurance systems
  • Maintaining and updating Risk Appetite Statements and supporting measures while monitoring Key Risk Indicators to identify potential exposures or control weaknesses
  • Supporting the ongoing development of mitigation strategies for critical risks and assist in remediating ineffective key controls to strengthen the overall risk framework.
  • Supporting updates to Risk and Compliance frameworks policies and procedures and provide governance input on remediation.
  • Acting as a coach and enabler helping employees in operational roles apply risk and compliance practices in ways that are relevant and easy to understand.
  • Educating and advising teams on compliance and risk responsibilities and embedding best practice across operations
  • Coordinating internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Leading and building on a culture of continuous performance improvement supporting quality activities ensuring they are consistent with group activities
  • Actively engaging with all sites and balance group strategy with local site needs and goals in the interests of providing best practice across all risk and compliance

To be successful in this role
You are a driven seasoned risk and compliance professional with solid understanding and knowledge of legislation guidelines frameworks and standards for which healthcare facilities are to be maintained and operated within. You model and create a culture of risk awareness accountability and action and challenge current practices by developing and promoting new innovative systems. You facilitate change and manage stakeholder expectations and business requirements by interacting liaising and engaging with senior executives. An ability to think laterally and strategically allows you to provide consistent strategic advice about key enterprise-wide risks project and program risks.

Position Description Inherent Requirements


Qualifications :

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in business health administration or a related discipline or demonstrated competency in Risk and Compliance (Senior level) minimum 10 years
  • Deep expertise in compliance audit or risk management role in a highly regulated environment
  • Proven delivery of business management strategies to drive organisation-wide initiatives and strong organisational planning and prioritising ability
  • Robust leadership capability with high-level communication skills including effective presentation and public speaking skills
  • Exposure to a range of regulatory frameworks and requirements.
  • Advanced skills in prioritising problem solving systems and process management
  • Demonstrated experience reporting regularly to boards and executive teams on identification and mitigation of key enterprise-wide risk and compliance matters

Highly desired:

  • Completion of an MBA
  • Post-secondary qualifications in business finance insurance law governance audit
  • Previous risk and compliance experience in healthcare

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in business health administration CPA CA CIA law or a related discipline
