Description

BASIC FUNCTION

  • The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the 2nd Shift Production Team is actively engaged to meet the daily production plan and ontime delivery of customer orders and to ensure that safety and quality standards are maintained at all times. The 2nd Shift Supervisor and shift team members will assemble products using a variety of hand and power tools fixtures work instructions and test equipment to perform a series of operations to correctly assemble/test medical devices.
  • Assist LSO to provide Quality Products and Services on time and within budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Working with the Production Manager and fellow associates on all shifts to provide shift team leadership guidance and direction for the purposes of responding to and giving direction to employees relative to operational and quality requirements; manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule are met.
  • Complete production and quality documentation including review of job travelers and DHR documents.
  • Verify weekly cleaning logs are properly documented.
  • Escalate problems or concerns with quality processes equipment materials and labor.
  • Work closely with support staff such as Technicians Engineering and Materials/Warehouse to prioritize and resolve issues.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with the Production Manager.
  • Sustain and drive lean manufacturing and 5S activities.
  • Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual employee performance reviews by providing input to the Production Manager regarding the respective employees performance.
  • Maintains clean and organized work areas to facilitate manufacturing functions.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma / GED or relevant experience.
  • 3 5 years experience in supervising a medical device (or similar) assembly/packing/inspection environment is desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Basic computer/PC experience; Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook) desirable.
  • Experienced with Lean tools and concepts desired.

  • Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to function successfully in a team environment; able to lead/collaborate with team members and gain buyin through effective communication and teamoriented problem solving.
  • Effective listening and good communication skills (verbal/written) ability to issue clear instructions.
  • Good problemsolving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Consistent high degree of attention to detail accurate completion of various forms/documents.
  • Ability to comprehend and retain working knowledge of the complete product line.
  • Ability to multitask and respond to changing priorities.
  • Ability to promote and encourage process improvement initiatives for department staff.
  • Good organizational skills demonstrated concern for good housekeeping.

  • Individual will need to sit (at times for extended periods) or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface during the workday. Reaching above shoulder heights below the waist or lifting as required to move materials during the workday. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
