Job Description:

The Engine Diagnostics Prognostics and Health Management team (DPHM) is dedicated to providing end to end solutions to improve aircraft reliability while reducing operating costs.

The selected candidate will generate/implement algorithms that monitor automatically monitor critical flight parameters alert for anomalies and provide visibility to events or exceedances.

This helps the operator to make informed decisions about preventive maintenance thereby reducing unscheduled maintenance lowering operating costs and increasing aircraft availability. DPHMs advanced diagnostic solutions provides true valueadded benefits that enable the operator to determine the best time to undertake maintenance on the engine and airframe. This can minimize costs by allowing for component repair instead of replacement and maximize engine time on wing.

Essential Duties/Tasks of Position:

  • Perform computational aeroacoustics and vibration analyses of aircraft engines and propeller systems
  • Develop propeller and engine rotor balance maintenance standards schedules and programs for general aviation and regional aviation applications
  • Conduct research into the feasibility design operation and performance of mechanisms components and vibration accelerometer systems as an integrated DPHM service
  • Support configuration and enhancements to Aeroacoustic mobile application for advanced engine diagnostics and prognostics services
  • Support the acoustics engineering team through computational modeling tool development and validation
  • Support full and subscale acoustic testing while assisting with acoustic tool development
  • Prepare and present technical information to internal and external customers and operators
  • Interface with internal leadership suppliers partners and airframe customers
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company
  • Develop engine and propeller system vibration anomaly detection algorithms
  • Define engine and propeller system health trend monitoring solutions and preventative maintenance recommendations
  • Interface with certification authorities and support certification activities as needed
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of industry standards and best practices in acoustics and vibration engineering

Required qualification and skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Aeronautical Engineering Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 58 years of experience in acoustics engineering analysis and design.
  • Experience with sound simulation and measurement software
  • Experience in vibration analysis using accelerometers and understanding vibration theory
  • Familiarity with acoustic testing data postprocessing and evaluation
  • Knowledge of acoustics and vibration principles terminology and concepts
  • Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis and Modal Analysis
  • Excellent analytical critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Proficient in MS Office especially in Excel

Beneficial Skills:

  • Demonstrated interest in the acoustics and vibration domain
  • Demonstrated ability to document plan and manage technical programs
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C/C Python)
  • Knowledge of aircraft continued airworthiness programs and compliance
