Job Description
Legacy System Modernization Consultant (COBOL/JCL to Databricks)
We are seeking 12 experienced consultants to support the modernization of legacy mainframe applications. The ideal candidates will have strong expertise in COBOL and JCL with proven experience analyzing translating and replatforming mainframe logic to modern cloudbased
data platforms such as Databricks.
This role will play a key part in transforming legacy data processing systems into scalable cloudnative solutions.
Your key responsibilities:
Analyze existing COBOL and JCL code to extract business logic and data workflows.
Translate and reengineer legacy processes using Databricks (PySpark SQL Delta
Lake).
Document system behavior and technical design for modern implementation.
Work closely with architects analysts and developers to ensure accurate migration.
Conduct unit testing validation and performance tuning of modernized code.
Provide documentation and knowledge transfer for ongoing support.
Required Qualifications:
5 years of experience with COBOL and JCL in a mainframe environment (e.g. z/OS).
2 years of handson experience with Databricks PySpark and Delta Lake.
Strong understanding of data migration and legacy modernization best practices.
Proficiency with SQL and modern data engineering workflows.
Ability to reverseengineer and refactor legacy systems for cloud platforms.
Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure AWS or GCP).
Familiarity with mainframe data sources (e.g. VSAM flat files).
Knowledge of job scheduling tools (e.g. ControlM).
Background in financial services insurance or other legacyheavy industries.
