Job Description

Position Title:

Clinical Professor Track Coordinator Graduate Nursing

Time Type:

Full time

Position Summary and Qualifications:

Saint Josephs University School of Nursing and Allied Health Graduate Program is seeking certified nurse practitioners with excellent clinical and nurse educator experience for Track Coordinator position in our Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGAC) programs. This is a fulltime 12month faculty position with teaching responsibilities and administration of all aspects of the track operations. Our fully online programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and boast exceptional certification pass rates. This position is conducted primarily in a remote work environment however the role requires flexibility to be on site at both our Philadelphia and Lancaster locations as well as some travel to clinical sites for marketing and recruitment purposes.

Track Coordinator Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree: MSN and doctoral degree in nursing education or healthcare

  • Doctorate Degree: Required

  • Licensure: Active unencumbered Pennsylvania Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licenses and the ability to obtain licenses in other states as needed (ie. New Jersey Delaware Maryland)

  • Certifications:

    • Family Nurse Practitioner and/or Adult Gerontology/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

    • Nurse Educator (CNE; preferred)

  • Online Teaching Competency:

    • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in online teaching and course management.

    • Familiarity with virtual teaching tools testing platforms and learning management systems (e.g. Canvas Zoom Google Suite Respondus)

    • Formal online teaching certificate (preferred)

  • Two years of effective teaching experience in a graduate and/or undergraduate nursing program.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage a team to meet established goals.

  • High level of emotional intelligence and selfawareness.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as required by the circumstances.

  • Flexibility in managing a dynamic and evolving academic program.

  • Two to three years of progressive experience in academic teaching and leadership roles (preferred)

Professional Obligations:

  • Direct report to the Graduate Program Director

  • Earned MSN from an accredited School of Nursing

  • Earned Doctoral degree (DNP PhD Ed.D.)

  • Maintains board certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the relevant specialty for the role

  • Maintains clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner in a relevant specialty in accordance with University policies

  • Represent Saint Josephs University in Nurse Practitioner professional organizations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Academic and Clinical Management:

  • Ensure the quality of the academic and clinical components of nursing education in the Nurse Practitioner program.

  • Monitor courses for quality consistency appropriate content pedagogy and innovation.

  • In collaboration with the Program Director supervise all curricular revisions to ensure alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards and best practices in online and clinical education.

  • Evaluate the quality of classroom clinical and online teaching and address emergent issues.

  • Facilitate students in appropriate clinical sites placement for all clinical courses. Approve and monitor the quality of clinical placements and instruction in collaboration with students preceptors and clinical faculty; make clinical adjustments as necessary.

  • Provide leadership in assessment curriculum evaluation and redesign to ensure conformance with the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education certification bodies and specialty organization standards and regulations.

  • Assign faculty to courses and other activities based on assessment of skills and expertise.

  • Collaborate with the Program Director to hire full time and adjunct faculty to support program delivery.

  • Secures affiliation agreements with clinical partners to support program operations.

  • Review all prospective student applications per policy in a timely and effective manner.

  • Advise and respond to students academic and clinical concerns.

  • Provides academic advising to all students enrolled in the program.

  • Oversee the management of student clinical issues and problems including followup student meetings documentation referrals and appropriate disposition.

  • Collaborates with the clinical coordinator to ensure all faculty and student clearances and compliances are current and complete per clinical site protocols and affiliation agreements.

  • Supports students in use of MyClinicalExchange Exxat and other platforms used to secure clinical placements and compliances.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of clinical faculty.

  • Create innovative solutions for clinical education challenges.

  • Conduct site visits at the midterm final and as needed.

  • Facilitate faculty meetings of all full time and adjunct faculty within the NP track.

  • Attend all faculty meetings facilitated by the Graduate Program Director and the School of Nursing and Allied Health leadership team.

  • Participates in the development of nursing program budgets in collaboration with the Program Director and Dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Health.

  • Works within budgetary boundaries to assure the functioning of the NP track.

Program Assessment and Improvement:

  • Collaborate with the Program Director on all accreditation requirements including but not limited to self study site visits continuous improvement review process and the programs systematic evaluation plan. Ensure all requirements are consistently met.

  • Assess the effectiveness of the educational experience in meeting program outcomes University standards and accreditation requirements.

  • Analyze student retention and course/teaching evaluation data and develop processes to address current and future concerns.

  • Utilize program outcome metrics including endofprogram assessments standardized testing licensure and certification results exit alumni and employer feedback in refining and improving the curriculum.

  • Engage in the development and implementation of all policies and procedures applicable to the program School of Nursing and Allied Health and University.

Faculty Responsibilities:

  • Foster a culture of academic success civility and professionalism.

  • Foster academic excellence in teaching scholarship and service.

  • Teach nonclinical and clinical courses within the graduate program and NP track.

  • Review and revise all course materials and assessments annually or more frequently.

  • Monitor student performance and progression in all courses.

  • Ensure current standards of practice are taught in all courses within the track.

  • Provide online office hours and availability to support student success.

  • Seek student consultation as appropriate when addressing issues within the track.

  • Prepare and submit reports including assessment reports track and program annual reports and the faculty annual review.

  • Respond in a timely manner to information requests from the program director dean provost and various university departments.

  • Represent the department and its interests internally and externally as required and appropriate.

  • Mediate relationships relevant to the track among students faculty university offices and external entities.

  • Participate in meetings including training and workshops as required and appropriate.

  • Serve on program School of Nursing and Allied Health and University committees as assigned.

  • Represents the School of Nursing and Allied Health and the University in Nurse Practitioner professional organizations and meetings and at events.

Program Support and Development:

  • Collaborate with Marketing Communications and Enrollment Management to increase enrollments in the program by assisting with recruitment marketing website development and attendance at strategic meetings and conferences as assigned by the School of Nursing and Allied Health leadership team.

  • Monitor political industrial and healthcare trends to identify and initiate curricular changes/implement new programs to prepare graduates with the skills and competencies to meet current and future needs.

  • Participate in advancement activities in collaboration with the School of Nursing and Allied Health leadership team and the university advancement office.

  • Engage with Student Life Student Support Services and Advising to provide quality support and resources for all students. .

  • Oversee vendor contracts and supervise integration of learning resources within the program.
