Job Description
Primary Purpose
Provide special education students in early childhood (PKK) with learning activities and experiences designed to help them develop socially emotionally cognitively and physically. Enable students to develop competencies and skills necessary for future educational success and independence. Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and work collaboratively with general education staff and families.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- Bachelors degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in Special Education EC12 and Early Childhood (or eligible for certification through District of Innovation Plan)
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices
- Knowledge of special education laws and procedures
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues parents and specialists
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Experience
Student teaching approved internship or related work experience in early childhood or special education preferred
