REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance/Custodial Supervisor
SUMMARY: The job of General Helper is done for the purpose(s) of assisting the custodians in maintaining an attractive sanitary and safe facility; providing adequate arrangements for meetings classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage loss and liability exposure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Skills are required to perform single nontechnical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: a variety of positionspecific skills.
Knowledge is required to perform basic math understand written procedures write routine documents and speak clearly; and understand multistep oral and written instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: various positionspecific information learned onthejob.
Ability is required to schedule activities; collate data; and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific defined processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with specific jobrelated data; and utilize specific jobrelated equipment. In working with others problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; communicating with diverse groups; and meeting deadlines and schedules.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsibilities include: working with immediate supervisor; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is some opportunity to affect the Organizations services.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling; and significant finefinger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting 70% walking and 25% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
