Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Grind Machine Setup/Operator is responsible for the safe setup and operation of automatic grinding machines to grind springs to specification. Second shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30PM
REPORTING TO
Manufacturing Manager
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Receive and interpret work orders samples prints and instructions.
- Set up grinder install tubes blocks and plates changing or dressing grinding wheels.
- Grind springs to proper length squareness and load specification.
- Periodically check spring dimensions with calipers load testers and fixtures to ensure parts are to specifications.
- Complete and maintain all quality records.
- Adhere to all shop safety requirements and procedures.
- Maintain clean and orderly work area.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Ability to read and interpret part specifications or blueprints.
- Detailed oriented.
- Good verbal and communication skills.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1 2 years experience in grinding and/or equivalent machine operation and setup in manufacturing setting preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly required to use hands to finger handle or feel pull and push with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally required to walk bend stoop climb or balance.
- Frequently required to sit and stand up to 4 hours at a time.
- Exposed to shop elements such as noise dust odors fumes etc.
