Hammer & Steel seeks to hire a Manual Machinist to join our team in Benicia California.
As a Manual Machinist you will run manual machines including conventional open face lathes horizontal/vertical mills drill presses and other shop equipment to produce routine and nonroutine finished products.
Shift: MondayFriday 7:00am3:30pm

Candidates should have:
- Proficiency in operating multiple types of commonly used fabrication machines (lathe drill press etc.) to produce routine and nonroutine finished products.
- Ability to read and review sample drawings blueprints and instructions to understand requirements in order to complete assignments.
- Familiarity with materials commonly used in industrial fabrication processes (structural steel aluminum bronze etc.) and ability to adjust machine settings accordingly
- Ability to monitor machines and adjust settings when needed (feed temperature maintenance) to identify potential issues as project progresses.
- Capable of working in conjunction with other departments (sales service parts departments) in a team setting.
- Maintain and foster safe workplace practices.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Three (3) or more years of related experience and/or training with manual machining.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints drawing or other specifications.
- Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers calipers etc.
- Pass preemployment physical and drug screen
