Summary

This role will technically lead a data science and ML team toward an agentic way of solving problems in the transactions and tenders space that Walmart transacts in on a daily basis in stores and online for US and International across Walmart and Sams Club. This team will determine how to accelerate Walmart into the delightful customer experiences of tomorrow and partner with their business and finance counterparts to realize concrete revenue gains or increased customer engagement via the accelerated software engineering approaches.

About Team

This position is with Transactional System under the Enterprise Business Services organization (EBS). Transactional Systems is focused on enabling our segment and technology partners in creating wonderful omni experiences on top of retail technology platform operations. From payment processing for all Walmart businesses (including Walmart and Sams stores online commerce for both US and International) cart checkout preventing Fraud and running promotions to Walmart members to developing programs such as Walmart Cash digital rewards and incentive programs our team helps create a seamless and riskfree shopping experience for our customers.

The mission of Transactional Systems Team is to drive customer engagement and revenue growth directly through worldclass secure checkout payments (30 tender integrations) Directed Spend and promotions that is fraudfree. We fulfill this through a global highlyavailable fullstack platform withautomated resiliencymanaged through formal SLAs uniformly applicable to theomni channels wherever possible and commercially reusable.

What youll do:

• We are looking for a leader passionate about innovating and leveraging the latest in generative AI that helps accelerate our mission. You will lead a worldclass engineering team consisting of ML/AI engineers data scientists distributed systems engineers and product managers to drive best practices shape up technical strategy and data architecture and develop data products to enable business insights (data science) client reporting and better customer experiences all through the lens of generative AI focused on Agentic frameworks to begin with.

• Partner with business and product teams and build products that delights our customers

• Help crossfunctional teams to solve for business problems and develop solutions that enable us to redefine a bestinclass experience.

• Encourage the teams that you oversee to work collaboratively and deliver insightdriven outcomes.

• Maintain an upbeat attitude and enjoyment in a fastpaced environment

• Provide Oversight on the following:

  • Consult with business stakeholders regarding algorithmbased recommendations and be a thoughtleader to develop these into business actions.

  • Closely manage Senior Managers & Directors of Data Science to drive data science adoption in the domain

  • Drive efficiency across the domain in terms of DS and ML best practices ML Ops practices resource utilization reusability and multitenancy.

  • Drive synergies across different products in terms of algorithmic innovation and sharing of best practices.

  • Proactive identification of complex business problems that can be solved using advanced ML finding opportunities and gaps in the current business domain

  • Evaluate proposed business cases for projects and initiatives

  • Translate business requirements into strategies initiatives and projects and aligns them to business strategy and objectives and drives the execution of deliverables

  • Set relevant deliverables based on the established success criteria and define key metrics to measure progress and effectiveness of the solution

  • Quantify business impact and ensures regular impact measurement of all ML products in the domain.

  • Identify and reviews model evaluation metrics based on analytical requirements

  • Ensures testing information is documented and maintained by the team

  • Utilize product mindset to build scale and deploy holistic data science products after successful prototyping

What Youll Bring:

• 10 years of experience in building and scaling AI and ML engineers with at least a couple of years building and delivering value with generative AI technologies

• Product sense with an understanding of product drivers and of how to guide value using data across the organization leveraging generative AI

• Demonstrated experience developing influential relationships and trust with senior leaders across engineering product and business especially derisking solutions depending on genAI technology.

• Prior experience partnering with Analytics Data Science Engineering and Product Management teams.

• Demonstrated experience technically leading geographically distributed teams across multiple time zones.
