Job Description

POSITION:ASSISTANT PRINCIPALQUALIFICATIONS:Massachusetts Secondary Principal LicensureExperience as an assistant principal and teacher at the secondary level preferredMinimum of a Masters degree requiredExperience working collaboratively with faculty staff and the broader school community Knowledge of current research in curriculum instruction and knowledge of effective schools researchStrong communication and interpersonal skillsThe candidate should possess the following qualities in order to perform the duties of Assistant Principal successfully: strong organizational and communication skills; the ability to motivate resourcefulness; and high expectations for students and GOAL:To create an environment where all members of the school community share the goal of providing continuous opportunities for each student to develop to his or her fullest potentialRESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for discipline of the schooloHandle all routine disciplineoHelp teachers with discipline problemsoNotify parents of student suspensionsphone and letteroHold parent conferences regarding pupil disciplineoHandle all office detentionoCheck students assigned office detentionAttendanceoCheck attendance and punctuality of studentsoCheck attendance recordsoMake inquiries concerning attendance and tardinessHandles daily transportation issues including the supervision of school buses traffic problems and bus requestsAdminister the public relations program i.e. Open House Parents NightsSupervise the school cafeteriaAid in preparation and operation of the school budgetAssist Principal and department heads in the recommending/selection of school supplies equipment and textbooksAssist the Principal in organizing and conducting faculty meetingsRepresent the school at public functions in the absence of the PrincipalAid in preparation of the master schedule and student programsAid in evaluation and rating of staff membersAid in selection of new teachersAid in orientation of new teachers to school routine and operationSupervision of the custodial staffResponsible for office recordsAssume leadership in programs of curriculum developmentOther such duties as assigned by the School PrincipalREPORTS TO:PrincipalSALARY:Per Unit B Contract STARTING DATE:July 1 2025PAPER APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
