What youll be doing
You will be joining a company at an exciting transitional stage as it shifts from startup to scaleup delivering landscape resilience in the UK and EU and 24m to farmers since 2021. The Scotland Senior Programme Manager is a critical role essential to ensure that we continue to deliver the high quality LENs in Scotland supporting the diverse stakeholders that are part of the successful trading networks and expanding to new partners.
The Scotland Senior Programme Manager role will:
- Lead and manage the delivery of LENs in Scotland across our existing and new regions building momentum and impact on the ground.
- Build the national and regional networks that are crucial to LENs success ensuring the engagement of key stakeholders including farmers supply chain actors and supporting agencies.
- Be the key contact for country level funding partners supporting them and ensuring LENs delivers against their objectives.
- Support the LENs Operators on all aspects of implementation of the LENs process ensuring high quality delivery of trades adapted to local conditions.
- Drive the successful expansion of LENs in Scotland ensuring new regions are brought to investmentreadiness and aligned with national policy developments.
Responsibilities of the role
Operational Delivery
- Lead and manage delivery of LENs in Scotland in line with the regional growth plans.
- With the Operations Director develop strategic growth plans for Scotland expanding the networks to include more demand and supply partners
- Be the key contact for LENs Operators and subcontractors linked to delivery (technical advisors and supply aggregators as appropriate) supporting them to deliver to a high standard in line with agreed budgets
- Collaborate with LENs Co and wider LENs networks to share knowledge and experiences of measures and outcomes including integrating LENs with Scotlands evolving natural capital market policy landscape.
- Work with buyers of ecosystem services to understand their needs support them through the LENs process and develop investment opportunities that align with their objectives.
- Working with the LENs team to manage the delivery of the MRV programme in the Scottish LENs ensuring alignment with national policy developments such as the BSI Carbon and Community Inclusion Standards.
Stakeholder management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in Scotland including supply chain actors and farmers.
- Work with national partners to identify new partners supporting them to get involved in LENs with a particular focus on expanding business engagement in the Leven Spey Borders and other priority Scottish regions.
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with LENs Operators ensuring they are uptodate with developments in LENs processes.
- Be the key contact for demand partners in Scottish regions supporting them and ensuring LENs delivers against their objectives.
- Identify potential new partners and support their onboarding to LENS working with them to engage in their first LENs trade.
- Represent LENs at traderelated public meetings and forums to advance collaboration and support.
Operational context
- Stay uptodate on Scottish policy changes that could impact the policy environment and delivery of LENs (for example public support offered to farmers).
- Help document and disseminate LENs case studies demonstrating impact and best practice.
The important stuff (essential requirements)...
- Experience in managing multistakeholder environmental or naturebased investment projects ideally within Scotland.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to structure investment transactions for ecosystem services.
- Experience in working with businesses landowners and government agencies to broker naturebased solutions.
- An understanding of landscapescale environmental challenges and the role of private investment in nature recovery.
- Experience of working in the natural capital ecosystem services and/or environmental sector with an understanding of private investment in naturebased solutions and emerging nature finance models.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to bridge commercial regulatory and environmental interests.
- A practical understanding of agricultural forestry or water sector management practices is desirable.
