The hours and location youll work in as a Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic with WM:

  • Monday Friday every week
  • Shift starting at 7 AM
  • Possible weekends (Saturday) and OT
  • Were committed to offering you stable hours for the financial security and work life balance you need.
  • The normal setting for this job is a repair / maintenance shop at our Hampton VA site.
  • Advanced Technical Training Required in Arizona for 2 weeks upon hire.

Each day youll fix the trucks and equipment that service over 20 million customers across the USA. As a Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic you can take pride in watching a truck roll out of the shop knowing your local community will be supported by your hard work. Our mechanics take their careers to the next level by working on equipment that requires a high level of skill and determination. Youll be using modern tools and procedures to deliver exceptional maintenance on both diesel equipment and at some locations on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.

Heres more of what youll do:

  • Repairs as needed equipment (including but not limited to bulldozers scrapers backhoes front end loaders yard trucks farm tractors forklifts and company cars).
  • Diagnoses and repairs differentials hydraulic systems motors transmissions drives air conditioning systems and electrical systems.
  • Performs tasks per preventative maintenance checklist.
  • Completes records such as work orders card files P.M. checklists and oil samples.
  • Services and maintains other equipment such as light plants water pump welders and other equipment.
  • Reference sitespecific procedures and more detailed sitespecific job descriptions.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

What do you need to be considered for the role of Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic

  • 5 years of relevant work experience5 years or more experience repairing industrial equipment like balers conveyers Experience with: Compactors
  • A valid drivers license with a clean driving record
  • Be over 18 years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Successfully complete and pass preemployment drug screen and physical.
