Job Description
Position Overview and Responsibilities
The James and Guthridge labs within the in the Arthritis and Clinical Immunology Research Program at OMRF are hiring two Assistant/Associate/or full Staff Scientists to join the team.
Responsiblities will include but are not limited to:
- Designing and conducting research experiments
- Preparing reports presentations and manuscripts for publication
- Assisting with grant writing
- Overseeing and/or managing research projects
- Summarizing and presenting results
- Guiding/leading graduate students postdocs and lab staff; may manage staff
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of scientific theory and research and principles of immunology
Demonstrated skill in formulating and testing hypotheses
Ability to conduct scientific research experiments and to analyze and summarize data/results
Ability to write technical scientific papers and grants
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to mentor students and guide/direct the work of less senior scientists
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Immunology or closely related field M.D. with research experience or equivalent field and some Immunology training or experience.
Good written and oral communication skills necessary. Ability to communicate and write summaries of results required. Must be willing to serve as a project lead assemble data make summary slides help with progress reports and assist with papers/presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Immunology or closely related field. Previous postdoctoral experience in immunology and two or more first author publications. Interest in autoimmunity infectious disease and/or human immune responses preferred.
OMRF Overview

In addition to following over 4000 patients with these conditions teams of basic and clinical investigators conduct extensive clinical translational and mechanistic research using samples obtained from these large clinical programs. We are fortunate to hold collaborative funding as an UM1 NIAIDfunded Autoimmunity Center of Excellence two U01 Autoimmunity Prevention Centers one NIGMSfunded S06 Native American Research Center of Health in rheumatic disease a NIAMSfunded P30 Oklahoma Rheumatic Disease Research Cores Center and NIGMSfunded U54 Oklahoma Shared Clinical and Translational Resources. Investigators at OMRF enjoy close scientific interactions with OUHSC faculty and participate in OUHSC graduate programs.
