The AWS Enterprise Networking Systems and Automation team is looking for a Senior System Development Engineer. In this role you will work handinhand with System Development teams Frontend Engineering teams and Network Engineering teams to drive stability consistency and sustainability of the network while never losing sight of the high security bar our customers demand. AWS Global Connectivity and Network Availability (GCNA) is the backbone that connects the global AWS network. Focused on routing and securing the internet traffic that allows users to access their information and applications regardless of where they are in the world. GCNA is responsible for building and designing a complex backbone network that allows internet traffic to flow efficiently between data centers and customers.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. You will be responsible for the design implementation and quality of services you deliver. Your experience working in a systems development or in an enterprise environment will help us implement automated solutions across a variety of applications and systems.
Youll also:
Design implement test deploy and maintain innovative solutions to transform service performance durability cost and security.
Write high quality distributed system software.
Work in an agile startuplike development environment where you are always working on the most important stuff.
Work closely with our Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to ensure fast and smooth rollout of new designs and products as well as assist with deployment and sustaining of networking software tools.

Engineers in the GCNA organization have a wide range of responsibilities; we work with internal partners to develop and implement the nextgeneration platforms along with the tooling ecosystems to support these platforms driving efficiency and scalability through the automation of builds configuration deployment and the scaling of capacity. 6 years of noninternship professional software development experience
3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or relevant degree/experience.
4 years of programming/scripting experience with at least one modern language such as C C# Java Python Golang PowerShell or Ruby.
4 years of experience with monitoring troubleshooting and resolving system and software components.
4 years of experience deploying and operating Linux in an enterprise environment and a solid grasp on operating system fundamentals.
3 years of experience working independently as a senior contributor or a lead member in large project teams at other organizations.
Strong knowledge of system architecture best practice and experience designing with and integrating cloudbased services into production products.
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations.
Extensive experience with modern software development practices including Agile methodologies and DevOps.
Experience with Linux containers Kubernetes Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) and Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is a plus.
Strong objectoriented design and coding skills.
Proven handson experience of working with AWS products to deliver software systems.
Familiarity with building native cloud solutions asynchronous messaging and network protocols.
Strong experience with distributed computing and largescale systems.
Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
Indepth knowledge of and experience with networking and/or systems technologies.
Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior management to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy.
Awareness of cloud technologies and architecture.
Experience influencing engineering best practices within your team.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
