Job Description

Posting Title: Lead School Counselor Early College (High Schools) (Internal Only) (SY2526)

LOCATION: (Schoolbased; works with all 3 High Schools)

REPORTS TO: Ellen Kokinidis Coordinator of School Counseling

GENERAL DUTIES:

In addition to school counselor role responsibilities the Early College Lead school counselor will act as a liaison between the Coordinator of School Counseling and the Chelsea High School Chelsea Opportunity Academy and Chelsea Virtual Academy Early College program. The Early College Lead school counselor will also work closely with the Early College and Career Pathways Coordinator and the High School Counselor Lead. The Early College Lead school counselor works with the school counseling team members to provide high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school by
participating in either Dual Enrollment/Early College classes and Internship/Career pathways; promotes early college recruitment activities and student leadership opportunities; oversees the early college application and registration process during fall and spring open enrollment periods including recruitment scheduling and keeping track of add/drop deadlines; supports team members with academic advising; works in partnership with the Registrar to include all Dual Enrollment/Early College transcript records up to date; monitors and communicates with the high school school counseling team members students eligibility for academic credit progress in academic class and factors affecting students inability to receive academic credit; supports students transitioning from high school to college and/or employment including college and employment related applications and activities; collects ongoing data related to Dual Enrollment/Early College; communicates with local colleges and universities that the district is partnering with to increase Dual Enrollment/Early College opportunities that provide for equitable access to all students; creates opportunities for students to go out on field trips and build awareness and knowledge around various careers and their personal interests in career pathways; plan and facilitate parent nights around Dual Enrollment/Early College opportunities; plan and present during weekly PLCs and monthly department meetings participate in faculty meetings PD and other meetings as needed. Responsibilities extend beyond the regular school day/school year.

QUALIFICATIONS:High School Counselor

COMPENSATION: CTU contractual rate.
