DEFINITION
The Digital Communications and Visual Media Coordinator is responsible for developing managing and maintaining Norfolk Public Schools digital platforms and visual content to enhance stakeholder engagement and communication. This position requires expertise in web development artificial intelligence (AI)driven content optimization highquality still photography and strategic digital media implementation.
This position focuses on visual storytelling through still photography and digital media ensuring compelling and accessible content across all platforms. The coordinator is expected to continually refine their photographic skills and stay at the forefront of technological advancements including AI integration in digital communications.
SUPERVISION
The Digital Communications and Visual Media Coordinator performs duties under the direction of the Chief Strategy Innovation and Community Engagement Officer and the direct supervision of the Director of Communications and Community Engagement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CLASS (May not include all duties performed by each position in the class).
Supports the entire communications team with other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience in website design content management systems (CMS) and accessibility compliance.
Strong understanding of AIdriven tools and emerging media technologies.
Ability to train and support staff in content creation and digital best practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Extensive knowledge of still photography composition lighting and editing.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop Lightroom Premiere Illustrator).
Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments.
Mastery of website design accessibility compliance and content management.
Strong proficiency in AIdriven media tools and emerging digital engagement technologies.
Expertise in still photography visual storytelling and digital content production.
Ability to create compelling highquality images for web and social platforms.
Ability to manage a caseload of web development and photography assignments efficiently.
Strong technical and creative problemsolving skills with a focus on innovation.
MINIMUM EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in Communications Digital Media Photography Web Development or a related field is required. A minimum of 3 years experience in website management AIdriven technologies and digital content strategy. A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in highquality still photography and digital storytelling are required.
LICENSE
Valid drivers license required.
Commercial drone pilots license preferred.

UNUSUAL DEMANDS
Work is performed in an office setting as well as throughout the school division and school community. Work is frequently subject to deadlines and requires attendance at weekend and evening meetings held locally and throughout the state. Additionally work requires continuous professional development in the areas of AI/emerging technology communications media community and public relations.
