Job Description

Vocational DirectorPosition:To provide leadership and vision to the vocational technical programs. The successful candidate will oversee all Chapter 74approved vocational technical education programs in compliance with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) regulations ensuring students are prepared for highskill highdemand careers and postsecondary :Must have possession of a current Vocational Technical Supervisor/Director 914 license by start degree from an accredited college or years of full time instructional experience in a Chapter 74 approved vocational technical licensure as a vocational technical the Professional Standard for Administrators (603 CMR 7.10).Proficient with oral and written communication an indepth knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and NEASC Massachusetts School Law as it pertains to secondary and vocational strong leadership required office technology skills in word processing spreadsheets data management Responsibilities:Supervises manages observes and evaluates vocational staff in accordance with local state and federal law policies and procedures of the major responsibility for recruiting and screening new vocational personnel and is involved in the hiring and maintains with Department Heads an uptodate inventory of all vocational equipment to include working with the Maintenance Supervisor to address service maintenance contracts preventative maintenance in the planning of the vocational budgets requisitioning materials supplies and equipment within the funds in the development and review of the District/ School Improvement and maintains written records and reports for all Federal State and Local District funded projects that pertain to the technical areas i.e. Capital Skills Perkins Local Plan and with developing grant proposals reconciliation of grants creating requisitions for purchases and managing state and federal grants in conjunction with the grants with evaluating current grants and align to needs and trends of industry (Perkins Skills Capital Title IV etc.).Responsible for recording and maintaining accurate records as required by federal state and local regulations/ for recording and maintaining student vocational hour competencies and remediation of vocational that all vocational programs comply with federal and state safety and health requirements including SDS and OSHA training. Assumes primary responsibility for the planning implementation and evaluation of vocational requests for offcampus construction and renovation work from the Districts sending communities and other nonprofit community and preliminarily approves community work in guiding and monitoring professional development for vocational meetings with the vocational staff and Department Heads as in the preparation of the annual budget in assigned in the planning and preparation of capital equipment responsibility for completion of periodic reports required by the state and federal the development of the state mandated Program Advisory and General Advisory boards and plan meeting agendas and for the interpretation of the vocational education program to the community and enlists the support and participation of the community in vocational education programs and as a liaison between the high school and the business community. (Program brochures publications alumni stories promotional materials etc.).Works in partnership with the Director of Adult Continuing Education in order to identify opportunities to implement practices and equipment that will benefit daytime and evening program students.
