Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Setup Specialist Hydraulic Presses to join our Fabrication team in Auburn Washington.

As a Setup Specialist for Hydraulic Presses you will be a key player in the manufacturing process responsible for ensuring that our hydraulic presses operate at peak efficiency. Your expertise in setting up and adjusting large hydraulic presses will directly impact the quality and precision of our production output. You will work closely with a team utilizing your technical knowledge to optimize machine setups and troubleshoot any issues that arise. Your role will not only involve handson operation but also mentoring lowergraded operators fostering a culture of safety and excellence within the team. Your contributions will be vital in driving continuous improvement and innovation in our pressing operations.

You will play a critical role in upholding our commitment to safety and quality standards and ensuring that all operations meet regulatory compliance and operational excellence. Position Responsibilities

  • Set up and adjust 2500ton or larger singleacting hydraulic presses for forming shrinking drawing and shearing operations ensuring proper sequencing for lowergraded press operators.

  • Determine the placement of supplementary rubber strips or pads to complete forming or shearing operations effectively.

  • Provide clear instructions both verbally and in writing to lowergraded operators regarding the proper placement of draw rings pressure pads and other necessary components.

  • Set up the feed table by spacing dies and rubber pads to ensure even distribution of press pressure and adjust the press for optimal pressure settings.

  • Start up pumps on the hydraulic press machine and check to ensure proper functioning before operation.

  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to set up machines and check parts for finish and dimensions.

  • Interpret charts tables blueprints templates and work orders to guide setup and operation processes.

  • Maximize machine capacities while minimizing the number of setups required for production.

  • Operate the assigned press as needed ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

  • Perform deep progressive and reverse draws involving various forming techniques such as stretching beading and flanging.

  • Select and secure the appropriate tools fixtures and machine attachments to efficiently accomplish assigned work.

  • Start up the conveyor system to bring the table out of the press area for operations.

  • Conduct thorough checks of all tooling including forming blocks and jigs/fixtures to ensure they are undamaged before use.

  • Perform tool tryouts on firstrun jobs and check work after job completion to ensure operations are finished per drawing and that there are no visible defects.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner and acquire and maintain certifications for flooroperated overhead cranes and stackers.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 1015 lbs to 1535 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching handling turning twisting lifting lowering climbing balancing bending kneeling crouching and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals solvents and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools sharp cutters and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes hands/arms and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen lawful permanent resident refugee or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office applications such as SharePoint Word Excel PowerPoint and Microsoft Project

  • Ability to lift push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift

  • 2 years of experience working with detailed work instructions reading and interpreting blueprints drawings or specifications

  • 2 years of experience using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers calipers and/or dial indicators

  • 2 years of experience in a role that required strong attention to detail

  • 1 years of experience working with various material handling equipment such as forklifts pallet jacks and cranes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment

  • Experience with hydroforming or hydropress machines

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.
