IRVING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Director of Marketing & Digital Media

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt

FUNDING SOURCE: Local

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Marketing Communications and Parent & Community Engagement

PAY GRADE: Admin 06

DUTY DAYS: 230

DEPARTMENT: Communications

A Letter of Assurance will be issued for this position.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the Chief and Executive Director of Communications & Marketing by providing leadership that supports the districts overall marketing and communications program through effective professional communications with internal and external audiences. The Director of Marketing & Digital Media will promote Irving ISD by managing marketing campaigns and planning/executing branded events to help fulfill the mission of the school district.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors degree in journalism public relations communications marketing or other related communications or business field.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Understanding of brand marketing
  2. Demonstrated skills and knowledge in use of digital webbased social media marketing and paid media/advertising.
  3. Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the use of traditional marketing including print radio and television
  4. Demonstrated skills in writing proofreading and editing for proper grammar and punctuation
  5. Experience in developing and promoting brand through storytelling photography and video production
  6. Proven work experience researching and writing stories that are compelling and relevant to market
  7. Experience in school bond marketing communication and strategy
  8. Demonstrated skills in developing and delivering presentations to small and large groups
  9. Demonstrated ability to organize plan manage and execute special events
  10. Demonstrated ability to develop build and manage positive relationships
  11. Creative skills in message development and PR/marketing campaigns
  12. Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
  13. Ability to work in a fastpaced environment to meet established deadlines while prioritizing and multitasking
  14. Ability to collaborate effectively with others
  15. Ability to develop ideas and perform tasks with little or no supervision
  16. Maintain emotional control under stress

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in marketing and communications
  • Two (2) years of experience in volunteer management
  • School marketing and communications experience preferred
  • Bilingual preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Assist the Chief and Executive Director of Communications & Marketing with the planning and execution of strategic timely and resultsdriven marketing and communication plans
  2. Oversees the development and production of promotional marketing campaigns for English and Spanish speaking audiences aimed at strengthening the districts brand and increasing student enrollment
  3. Leads and executes experiential marketing events for the district and campuses designed to increase student enrollment
  4. Serve as project manager and supervise the work of others during collaborative campaigns programs events and projects
  5. Plan organize manage and execute special events for the school district Communications department and Partners In Education program and other events for stakeholder groups.
  6. Coordinate and manage relationships with strategic partners vendors
  7. Develop and execute marketing and advertising programs and contracts both short and longrange to ensure revenue enhancement in accordance with Board Policy
  8. Assist the Chief and Executive Director of Communications & Marketing by guiding other department employees through special assignments projects and presentations including oversight of the copywriting design layout production and distribution of promotional materials and initiatives
  9. Assist the Chief and Executive Director of Communications & Marketing with meetings materials and communications with district officials
  10. Attend committee meetings and community events as directed
  11. Ensure all published content meets a high standard of quality is relevant and useful for the audience
  12. Oversees various district websites to ensure alignment to brand standards updates and compliance.
  13. Collaborate with other department personnel to produce engaging stories and videos
  14. Create a pipeline of original content and creative campaigns for the online newsroom and social media platforms to promote the districts brand
  1. Collaborate with the videographer to develop informative engaging and brandfocused videos
  2. Serve as the district spokesperson as directed or in the absence of the Division Chief and/or Executive Director
  1. Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district matters
  2. Perform other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decisionmaking. Frequent indistrict and occasional instate or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training wearing personal protective equipment as required reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
