The Staff Sergeant James J. Hill Elementary School is seeking a highly qualified Special Education Coordinator. This role will collaborate with directors school principals assistant principals and families to ensure that programs under their supervision are properly implemented. Their primary function is to create and lead efforts to ensure the smooth operation of Special Education services at the schoollevel and across the district align curricula and foster effective instructional practice while ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws.
Duties include but are not limited to the following. Additions and modifications to these representative duties and responsibilities are under the purview of the Superintendent of Schools Executive Director of Special Education & Student Services CoDirectors of Student Services and Building Principal.
- Serve as the building leader and point person for special education
- Ensure effective delivery of special education instruction and related services at the building level
- Review and approve Individualized Education Plans (IEPS) written by colleagues
- Create and facilitate special education professional development for staff
- Monitor and ensure compliance by the school with all state and federal laws
- Consult with directors and building administration in regards to staffing
- Facilitate student placement discussions both in and out of district
- Attend and facilitate buildingbased meetings as needed
- Facilitate the initial and reevaluation special education evaluations team process
- Administer psychoeducation assessments and write evaluation reports
- Facilitate schoolbased PGT to promote and maintain focus on best practices
- CoLead and serve on the BBST Working Group
- Collaborate with Special Education Coordinators and CoDirectors of Student Services on a regular basis
- Develop and expand central office to school connection
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the CoDirectors of Student Services Executive Director of Special Education & Student Services Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS- Possess a valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in Special Education
- Possess a minimum of a Masters Degree from an accredited college or university
- A minimum of three years satisfactory fulltime experience in the classroom
- If an RPS employee they must have completed RBTs Studying Skillful Teaching or Understanding Teaching I or Ribas & Associates Teaching to All Learners.
- High level of comfort working in a growthfocused coaching environment based on frequent observations debriefs action planning and progress monitoring
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer/technology skills with the ability to utilize various computer software and app programs
- Committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement equal access to high levels of instruction the achievement of academic and linguistic proficiency for all students and the closing of the opportunity gap
- A selfreflective active learner capable of interactive dialogue with all members of the school community
- Ability to properly manage confidential information
- Able to supervise students of various ages in different school settings (playground cafeteria etc.)
- Outstanding interpersonal skills cultural sensitivity and respect for others with the ability to establish rapport with and relate to students caregivers and coworkers with respect compassion tact and understanding

SCHEDULE & COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNITSchedule salary and benefits will be determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Revere School Committee and the Revere Teachers Association.
