BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The CFC Solutions Engineer is responsible for providing direction and support from an automation standpoint to the MSC CFC network when system electrical or mechanical issues occur to ensure optimal reliability and minimal disruptions in customer service. This is accomplished by taking a proactive approach to identify improvement opportunities and working cross functionally to implement solutions which improve Total Process Reliability.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the immediate resolution of any automation related high impact issue immediately jeopardizing any CFCs ability to meet the service level committed to the customer.
  • Protects MSCs $20M investment in material handling by ensuring the local facility maintenance managers maintain and adhere to established key measures and standards.
  • Provide direction and support from an automation standpoint to the CFC network when system electrical or mechanical issues occur to ensure optimal up time and eliminate or minimize any disruptions to customer service.
  • Work with vendors to develop solutions which improve system performance throughput and reliability.
  • Support and assist development on all capital expenditure projects relating to electrical mechanical and design.
  • Provides site management support and leadership to project managers and facility maintenance on automation capital projects.
  • Works crossfunctionally to identify and implement supply chain automation and electrical/mechanical improvements in the CFC network to ensure most effective and efficient systems and processes.
  • Coleads crossfunctional teams to identify improvement opportunities in both equipment and process that enhance Total Process Reliability of the MSC material handling systems.
  • Conducts quarterly preventive maintenance audits throughout the CFC network on all material handling systems and develops key measures for local facility maintenance managers to follow and monitor performance against these measures.
  • Develops and documents Standard Cost Data for use in automation cost analysis.
  • Support and perform cost studies to evaluate financial feasibility of potential projects.
  • Drives the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSCs mission.
  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Engineering or an extensive job experience is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years mechanical and electrical installation experience with material handling systems in a distribution environment is required
  • Past experiences leading or supporting multimilliondollar material handling project implementations with successful full cycle site management experience.
  • Experience working with preventative maintenance programs is required.

SKILLS:

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Word MS Excel MS Project MS PowerPoint and AutoCAD is required.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills required.
  • Strong problem solving skills required to quickly resolve high impact issues immediately impacting our customer.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required. This includes the ability to build constructive relationships both inside and outside the organization and diffuse hightension situations comfortably.
  • Demonstrated excellence in project management of multimilliondollar capital projects.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid drivers license and the ability to travel 75% of the time is required.
