    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Elementary and/or Secondary Certification
    2. Middle School experience preferred
    3. Five years teaching experience preferred
    4. Demonstrate ability to coordinate and collaborate with parents and staff.
    5. Demonstrate leadership and management skills in the workplace.
    6. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form
    7. Demonstrate ability to use technology in the workplace.
    8. Knowledge of Research Based School Disciplinary policies and procedures
    9. Ability to obtain a valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    1. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions
    2. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
    3. Ability to maintain accurate records and reports to monitor students speak and write effectively establish and maintain effective relationships work with and secure the cooperation of students
    4. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
    5. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff students parents and community members
    6. Ability to understand and maintain students and parents rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students
    7. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. not limited to PBIS committees or other related programs.
      1. Work in conjunction with school counselors and behavioral specialists to develop systems to support positive behaviors sitewide.
    2. Assist in campus supervision during noninstructional time (before school passing time lunch after school).
      1. Monitor and manage school security including security officers and monitors.
    3. Administer student discipline suspensions and longterm suspensions under the guidance of the principal/assistant principal.
      1. Complete the investigative work necessary in discipline cases and prepare all information for disposition by the principal/assistant principal.
      2. Ensure that the Principal is kept informed of all pertinent information directly related to duties and responsibilities.
      3. All final disciplinary decisions regarding suspensions and expulsions will be made by the principal/assistant principal.
    4. Schedule parent conferences as directed by the principal/assistant principal.
    5. Work with community agencies (Crisis Team Department of Child Services Police etc.) as directed the principal/assistant principal.
    6. Assist in the management and coordination of all extracurricular activities including
    7. Assemblies Intramural contests and other school events.
    8. Assist with dropout prevention.
    9. Other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or designee.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to reach with hands and arms sit stand walk stoop and bend as necessary. The employee maylift carry push pull or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens and use the telephone.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Indoor office environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have substantial contact with parents students staff and the public.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
    The Dean of Students reports to the Principal. The Dean of Students has direct line supervisory relationship with teachers counselors and classified personnel matters dealing with areas of responsibilities as outlined. TheDean of Students will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
