Job Description

The Paralegal assists leaders on the Legal team by performing a variety of legal duties including conducting legal research drafting legal documents handling active and nonroutine litigation matters responding to subpoena and discovery requests and maintaining confidential company records.

This position requires 100% onsite attendance.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Must have litigation experience.
  • Assist Senior Paralegal and inhouse attorneys with employment litigation matters; draft and issue litigation hold notices; and communicate with insurers and external counsel as may be necessary.
  • Draft proofread and review land record documents including Assignments of Mortgages Releases/Reconveyances and Subordination Agreements.
  • Produce records timely to nonparty subpoena and discovery requests on a daily basis with a high level of attention to detail; coordinate witness depositions; and act as custodian of records on behalf of UWM to authenticate business records.
  • Serve as recipient for service of process matters; review track and escalate legal matters as needed.
  • Track and process legal invoices utilizing Airtable software.
  • Review a variety of other legal documents including residential purchase agreements leasehold agreements trust agreements and other real estate and title documents.
  • Review legal documents received in civil case proceedings including partition actions quiet title actions bankruptcy filings foreclosure cases substitutions of trustees tax and assessment liens and other civil pleadings; track and manage communications with servicers internal counsel MERS and external counsel to ensure matters are handled from intake to resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field or Paralegal certificate and a minimum of two years of previous experience in a legal support environment either in a corporate or law firm setting.
  • Have experience with litigation and subpoena processes.
  • Have experience with complaints pleadings and motions.
  • Have knowledge of court civil procedures.
  • Have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Have excellent written and communication skills with an attention to correct grammar and business writing skills.
  • Have critical thinking analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Be selfmotivated and able to work well in a team based environment.
  • This position requires 100% onsite attendance.
