Job Description
Design Engineer required to join a manufacturer based in Houston TX. You will be working on SolidWorks and designing products primarily for the Oil and Gas industry.
The successful Design Engineer will be responsible for performing a wide variety of layout and detail design duties in support of quotations orders and manufacturingrelated projects. This includes navigating issues that may arise developing corrective actions and implementing solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience designing downhole oil and gas products or composites and be highly proficient in SolidWorks.

Design Engineer
Responsibilities
- Perform layout and detail design duties in support of quotations orders and manufacturingrelated projects
- Navigate and resolve design issues developing corrective actions and implementing solutions
- Ensure designs and drawings reflect standard shop practices and capabilities
- Engage in secondary tasks as needed such as software troubleshooting vendor communication and updating engineering change requests
- Balance workload with approximately 90% design tasks and 10% special projects
- Contribute to manufacturing and productivity improvements
- Address manufacturing and assembly issues on the shop floor providing both shortterm and longterm solutions
- Collaborate with manufacturing to launch new product development exploring manufacturing methods within budget and timeline constraints
- Conduct prereviews and postreviews of jobs to ensure continuous improvement in cost reduction and quality enhancement
- Coordinate with planning quality purchasing assembly and design staff to ensure efficient production methods
Design Engineer
Requirements
- High proficiency in SolidWorks (a SolidWorks test will be required during the selection process)
- Experience in downhole oil and gas products will be beneficial.
- A composite product design background is beneficial.
- Knowledge of ERP systems with PDM preferred
- Bachelors or Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering/Design or related field
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes
- Handson individual capable of working from concept through implementation
