The VELA after school program seeksActivityleaders and assistants to provide fun and engaging activities to 7th and 8th grade students. Candidates must be energetic engaging & ensure a safe dynamic and engaging learning environment for should have some expertise in theactivitythey are leading and knowledge of the developmental needs of their needs to be aware of the required grant include but are not limited to art music dance team building games survivalskills cooking sports drama robotics hip hop social justice yoga fitness and mindfulness.
Qualifications:
- Highly skilled in group facilitation
- Demonstrated success in experience working with youth
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly adaptive with exceptional problem solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse personalities
- Experienced in maintaining a positive and professional attitude even when under stress
- Knowledge of MS Office especially Word Outlook and Excel
- Experienced with distance learning and google classroom
- Bilingual candidates are a plus!

- Knowledge of Project Based Learning and Common Corepreferred
- Experiencein an educational setting is a plus!
Physical Demands Ability to multitask and respond to demandingjobduties with a positive mindset. Ability to regularly move throughout the classroom to and from office to gym and classroom locations and ability to access file cabinets carry sportingequipment equipment run and play games with students and/or operate a computer. Frequently communicates with students colleagues and school based program staff.
Working Conditions Will work both in middle school setting indoors and outdoors Ability to handle interruptions and maintain productivity. Ability to work with diverse personalities. Skilled in working independently and collaboratively.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Plan and submit theme based project modules that identify learning goals activities and materials to be delivered to approximately 15 students
- Utilize facilitation techniques to showcase student work and learning in collaboration with Site Coordinator
- Identify opportunities to showcase student work and learning in collaboration with Site Coordinator
- Communicate with SIte Coordinator regarding need for support with student attendance and participation project material and classroom organization
- Provide student behavior management support as needed
- Understand and implement safety protocol
- Assess and administer basic first aid
- Communicate with Afterschool Site Coordinator regularly by phone and email
- Be available June 1013th from 3:306:30 for training and MonThurs July 1st24th 8:151:15pm
- ensure upkeep of program materials
- Attend orientations professional development trainings and staff meetings
- Follow all Covid Protocols
- Complete all other tasks as required
