Job Description

Plumber/HVAC Technician

Purpose: At Leavenworth Public Schools we are committed to providing safe comfortable and wellfunctioning facilities that support learning and working for all students and staff. Were seeking a skilled and dependable Plumber/HVAC Technician to maintain and repair essential building systems that keep our schools running smoothly. Reports To: Facilities Coordinator and Director of Facilities

Salary: Starting salary is based on the Classified Salary Schedule with increases for relevant certification education and experience

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in plumbing HVAC installation and repair service or related field
  3. Journeyman Plumber License Master Plumber License and/or HVAC certification preferred
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the basic techniques of plumbing HVAC and general maintenance preferred.
  5. Experience in school or institutional facilities setting preferred
  6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and building plans
  7. Ability to operate complex plumbing and HVAC tools and machinery (e.g. sewer machine trencher fusion tool torch)
  8. Ability to manually lift a maximum of 75 pounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plumbing Services: Troubleshoot maintain and repair plumbing systems including water sewer and gas lines; including but not limited to fixtures such as faucets sinks toilets and water fountains water heaters and other related service items. Perform winterization and preventive maintenance on plumbing infrastructure. Perform all repairs maintenance removal and installations according to applicable codes. Keep necessary parts and supplies in stock and communicate needs to the supervisor.
  2. HVAC Services: Perform inspections maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems including boilers chillers air handlers and ventilation systems in alignment with applicable codes. Ensure systems are operating efficiently and safely. Monitor and adjust automated climate controls.
  3. System Monitoring & Repairs: Monitor building automation systems for performance comfort and energy efficiency. Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and emergencies. Maintain accurate logs of service and repairs.
  4. Maintenance & Project Support: Maintain plumbing and HVAC tools vehicles and workspaces. Clean up after tasks. Support building maintenance grounds care and district renovation projects. May coordinate with vendors or contractors as assigned.
  5. Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Facilities Coordinator or the Director of Facilities to ensure the efficient operation and safety of district facilities.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  1. Requires physical exertion to manually move lift carry pull or push heavy objects or materials maximum of 75 pounds.
  2. Requires stooping kneeling climbing ladders. crawling bending turning and reaching.
  3. Requires climbing and balancing.
  4. Must work indoors and outdoors yearround with exposure to indoor/outdoor conditions noise dust fumes odors and temperature extremes.
  5. Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments confined spaces and with numerous interruptions.

Duty Days: 12 month employee reporting 260 days per year

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Educations policy on evaluation of classified staff.
