Job Description
Merit Solutions is a boutique organisation recognised across government in Queensland for our highquality consultants and the selection services we provide. Due to increased demand we have immediate opportunities available to join our talented casual consultant team.
About you...
We are looking for a highly collaborative and professional individual with a background as a senior HR practitioner with a specialisation in recruitment or experienced people managers with experience in government selections.
You have superior communication skills take pride in writing high quality reports and are confident in providing advice and support to selection panels across diverse levels and disciplines.
You are comfortable working autonomously and within a virtual team environment you are highly organised diligent (as you will be managing highly confidential client information) have sound time management and prioritisation skills and the capability to work effectively and efficiently in a home office environment.
You also possess a sound understanding of recruitment best practice with the ability to quickly grasp HR policies procedures and legislation applicable to our public sector clients.
You are ideally looking to work on a casual basis and are open to a flexible working arrangement with varying hours which will fluctuate on an as needs basis.
The work...
You will work across all levels of the public sector supporting selection panels to achieve timely efficient and effective selection outcomes.
You will primarily be engaged as a scribe to support selection panels with attendance at interviews conducting reference checks and producing high quality reports.
In addition you may complete initial shortlisting participate as an independent panel member develop interview questions and work tests facilitate feedback to applicants and provide wellfounded advice on policy or process.
Hybrid arrangements...
Right now we are looking for people who are:
- Open to working varying hours to support the peaks and troughs of our selection demands
- Able to be flexible in responding to changing client schedules
- Willing to work mainly (but not entirely) from home
- Keen to work in a professional and collaborative virtual team environment
- Looking for work which complements and allows other life interests travel business study or family
While most of your work will be done from your home office two critical requirements are:
- the ability to attend interviews in person at venues primarily in the Brisbane CBD; and
- the capacity and technology to participate virtually in meetings and interviews from home (or our city office if you prefer).
While there are no guaranteed work hours on casual arrangements our consultants usually enjoy the ability to schedule work that is offered around other parts of their life and there are no restrictions on time off to travel or other commitments.
We are working with clients who are dealing with a challenging job market so we are looking for people with a high degree of flexibility to help us respond to changes in client scheduling. You will be well supported by our Administration Team who also operate with a great deal of flexibility.

Remuneration...
Remuneration commences from $62 per hour plus super with higher rates available depending on performance and the level of the work.
