Job Description

PreK for All/GSRP

Early Childhood Specialist
Fulltime nonunion atwill position

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Early Childhood Specialist (ECS) serves as the educational leader and catalyst for continuous quality improvement across all PreK for All/Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) classrooms serving 4yearolds in St. Clair County. Through observation and feedback the ECS supports teaching teams and site administrators in implementing highquality PreK with fidelity to the GSRP model. The ECS confidently advocates for children families and educators to ensure informed and appropriate program decisions. Support is provided through professional development instructional coaching consultation and inclassroom modeling.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with five or more years of preschool teaching experience (preferred) or a Bachelors Degree meeting GSRP lead teacher requirements with at least 10 years of relevant early childhood experience including a minimum of 5 years teaching in GSRP

Experience:

  • Preschool teaching experience required; GSRP lead teacher experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in both Special Education and General Education settings preferred
  • General understanding of Special Education IEPs and PreK programs such as ECSE GSRP and Head Start
  • Experience supporting children with IEPs in General Education classrooms is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of child development adult learning styles cultural diversity and continuous quality improvement
  • Demonstrated experience coaching adults
  • Familiarity with services that support children and families and reduce barriers to education
  • Certification or experience with assessment tools including CLASS TS Gold/COR and Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ)
  • Training and experience with researchbased preschool curricula instructional best practices and Early Childhood Standards of Quality
  • Experience using PracticeBased Coaching or similar coaching models
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively make sound decisions and problemsolve
  • Strong facilitation skills for workshops and meetings
  • Selfdirected able to manage multiple responsibilities independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Google Workspace Excel PowerPoint social media TS Gold/COR Online ASQ and internetbased applications

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out all responsibilities of the Early Childhood Specialist as outlined in MiLEAP GSRP guidelines
  • Support GSRP teachers in curriculum licensing and program implementation
  • Observe children and recommend strategies to support development
  • Advocate for highquality PreK programming countywide
  • Support socialemotional learning and the use of visuals within preschool settings
  • Conduct program evaluations using the CLASS tool and assist teachers in setting and monitoring quality improvement goals
  • Consult with teachers on assessment practices goal development and meeting the individual needs of all children
  • Apply the PracticeBased Coaching (PBC) framework to guide targeted classroom improvements
  • Provide professional development for teaching staff and administrators
  • Attend and engage in local state and national professional learning opportunities
  • Assist teaching staff in completing GSRP documentation required by MiLEAP and SCC RESA
  • Build positive partnerships with local districts childcare providers and community agencies
  • Contribute to media campaigns website updates and newsletters
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and meet deadlines
  • Bring leadership experience in teaching planning evaluation and curriculum development
  • Perform other duties as assigned
