The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. These positions arelocated at both our Central Warehouse in Jessup Maryland as well as ourHagerstown Warehouse.

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of job is to deliver produced byMaryland Correctional Enterprise to customers throughout the state of Maryland.

  • Learns how to maintain control and discipline among the inmate workers by enforcing safety sanitary and security regulations;
  • Learns how to keep continual count of inmates;
  • Learns how to enforce rules of conduct and security and labor standards by issuing verbal admonishments for minor infractions and reports of significant violations or irregularities to superiors;
  • Learns how to remain alert at all times in order to assist in preventing any acts of sabotage or breaches of security;
  • Learns how to provide onthejob training and supervision of inmates;
  • Learns how to plan and coordinate production operations;
  • Learns how to prepare material estimates production records and other written reports concerning shop operation;
  • Provides training in work functions of a specific shop and explains the purpose and use of tools equipment and materials to inmates;
  • Learns how to keep records of materials and supplies used;
  • Learns how to evaluate the work progress of inmates;
  • Inspects completed work and work in progress for adherence to job orders and production standards;
  • Supervises the maintenance of shop areas tools and equipment;
  • Performs other related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Graduation from an accredited high schoolor possession of a high school equivalencycertificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Maryland Correctional Training Commission regulation.

Experience:One year of experience in Automotive Services or related field.

1. Specific educational requirements and other selection standards are set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Correctional Services Article Section 8209 of the Annotated Code of Maryland and are listed in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12 Subtitle 10 Chapter 01.

may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in correctional institutional specialty codes in the criminal justice field of work at a rate of two years of military experience for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Possession of a Class A Commercial Drivers License this is critical since we are unable to utilize a driver that does not have a Class A license.
2. Previous experience with delivery and installation of office systems.
3. Experience in loading/unloading and and driving tractor trailers.
4. Experience with use of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Systems
5. Proficiency with Google and Microsoft programs & applications.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Selection standards for Correctional Officer certification are established bythe Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance withCorrectional Services Article Section 8209 of the Annotated Code ofMaryland. These selection criteria are listed in detail in the Code of MarylandRegulations Title 12 Subtitle 10 Chapter 01 and include the following:

U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status

Must be at least 21 years of age

A completed background investigation

Oral interview

Physical examination.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09 Testing for IllegalUse of Drugs.
