Job Description
Are you enthusiastic about education and interested in exploring a career in teaching Sir John Nelthorpe School is seeking to appoint a committed and proactive Cover Supervisor to join our successful and supportive team from September 2025.
This is an ideal opportunity for a confident organised individual who enjoys working with young people and is looking to gain valuable experience in a secondary school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering preprepared lesson materials in the absence of teaching staff
Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
Supporting pupils with their learning and encouraging high expectations
Collaborating with teaching staff and the wider school team to ensure continuity of learning
We are looking for someone who:
Is passionate about working with young people
Has strong interpersonal and communication skills
Can manage a classroom effectively and confidently
Is flexible reliable and professional
Is keen to develop their skills and potentially explore a route into teaching

This is a rewarding and varied role within a busy and vibrant school environment. Previous experience in a school setting or working with young people is desirable but not essential full training and induction will be provided.
