Pelham Elementary School has about 126 students from kindergarten through sixth grade. The school has one class section for each grade level. The school is seeking to hire a full time highly skilled professional to provide the guidance and counseling services for students.
The counselor will have the following roles and responsibilities:
- Provide group and individual counseling services
- Case management services for assigned caseload
- Provide classroom based supports and interventions to students
- Deliver classroom based lessons to promote a positive school and classroom climate
- Collaborate and consult with school personnel on topics related to social/emotional learning and mental health issues
- Provide crisis intervention when needed
- Develop individual student goals and benchmarks collect and analyze data and prepare progress reports for students with IEPs
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Active engagement in school climate/equity work
- IEP assessments goal writing and progress reports as needed
- Participate in IEP Team meetings to report on progress for students on the caseload
- Perform other related duties as required
- Attend scheduled staff meetings
- Assume any additional responsibilities when the Principal is out of the building
- Attend districtwide mental health team meetings and trainings
- Selfharm and threat assessment screenings as indicated
- Participate in ongoing classroom meetings to address the climate and classroom issues
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Guidance Social Work Psychology or other mental health provider field preferred
- DESE School Adjustment Counselor certification
- Background working with children with special educational needs
