LOCATION OF POSITION

MHD Allegany County Health Department Cumberland MD

Main Purpose of Job

This fulltime contractual position will be responsible for facilitating access to and coordination of behavioral health services. This position will provide State Care Coordination (SCC) for Allegany County and assists in the development of individualized recovery plans for SCC participants connecting them with community resources activities and programs in collaboration with local providers. This position will also serve as the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Coordinator supporting the MHFA instructor with class advertisement organization scheduling and prework completion. Additionally the coordinator will actively represent the LBHA at community events to promote the agency and its initiatives within Allegany County while also providing program support collecting and analyzing data recommending service improvements contributing to program development supporting public education assisting with client support funding and diligently tracking program data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six months of experience performing administrative staff clerical clerical technical or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a noncommissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a yearforyear basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate should possess:
  • Experience developing and implementing public education programs and explaining available services to the public which may require public speaking.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with data collection and tracking.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

Candidates may remain on thecertified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage accidental death and dismemberment insurance and life insurance but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
