Program Coordinator


The Volunteer Engagement Office of the Los Angeles Public Library coordinates and oversees the systemwide volunteer program data management and the Diversity and Inclusion Apprenticeship (DAIA) program. The DAIA program offers young adults the opportunity to work alongside skilled librarians gaining valuable work experience while exploring their interests within a library setting. Apprentices can assist with various library functions including programming outreach and developing new programs all while acquiring job skills and contributing to the librarys mission.


Our organization is seeking a highly organized and detailoriented Program Coordinator to join our team. This challenging and exciting role requires a combination of administrative skills interpersonal communication and the ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment. The Coordinator will codevelop the DAIA intern recruitment strategy processes and protocols and partnerships in collaboration with the Program Manager. Additionally they will support the recruitment of DAIA mentors identify incentives and develop targeted outreach strategies to support them.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop an application tracking system and coordinate the recruitment selection and placement of apprentices.
  • Codesign and maintain the apprenticeship databases including a DAIA Alumni Network program materials and evaluation processes.
  • Provide support to apprentices during their apprenticeship including conducting orientations and arranging transportation.
  • Organize and support workshops and events for apprentices such as networking events skillbuilding sessions program field trips and Day With activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of apprentices to ensure they meet program requirements.
  • Steward and maintain partnerships to provide students with opportunities for apprenticeships and internships.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure that apprentices have a wellrounded experience.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on the programs progress success and effectiveness.
  • Help develop policies and procedures for the apprenticeship program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year of experience in student services recruiting experiential learning opportunities program coordination or project management.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • High proficiency in Google Suite (particularly with Google Sheets and Documents) and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently.
  • Ability to adapt to a fastpaced environment while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Access to reliable transportation including alternatives such as public transit ridesharing services or carpooling to travel throughout the Los Angeles area.

Preferred

  • Experience in a nonprofit or public sector work environment particularly in education and working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • A degree in a related field is beneficial but not required if equivalent relevant experience is demonstrated.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations current trends and best practices in apprenticeship program management.
  • Candidates based in the City of Los Angeles or L.A. County are preferred.
  • Knowledge of Los Angeles neighborhoods is helpful.

Employment Type and Position Terms Compensation and Benefits:


This is a grantfunded shortterm role from June 2025 through June 2027.

The Program Coordinator position is a parttime nonexempt position and they typically work 20 hours per week. The hourly rate is $35.00.


Location: This is a hybrid role with the expectations of at least 2 days minimum onsite or as needed.
