Job Description
- Direct supervision of UAW NA workforce
- oTest vehicle checkin signoff & scheduling to completion
- oProper coding issue reporting and record retention of all test vehicles
- oAssign vehicle drivers mechanics maintenance work orders
- oUnderstanding of union contract
- oProper discipline in accordance with contract
- Lead a team of mechanics across multiple departments at Chelsea:
- Assign and coordinate work distribution and shift handoffs
- Understand basic mechanical job functions to hold mechanics accountable for job completion timelines
- Ensure mechanics accurately document all vehicle issues and customer concerns
- Assess road conditions to support vehicle testing; coordinate with Grounds team for facility maintenance as needed
- Communicate with onsite engineering teams regarding vehicle status and required support
- Troubleshoot basic iPad issues
- Schedule drivers based on vehicle priority driver availability and training requirements
- Understand and enforce union contract terms and discipline accordingly
- Conduct monthly safety meetings and ensure safety signoffs are completed on time
- Submit maintenance requests for damaged equipment and facilities
- Monitor and maintain stock of consumables for trailers and testing needs
- Maintain and improve safety protocols for supervisors mechanics and drivers:
- Participate in plantwide rotating safety meetings
- Ensure test vehicles meet testing specifications and are driven accordingly
- Confirm mechanics document all vehiclerelated issues accurately
- Serve as trained Incident Commander and participate in Emergency Response Teams across all shifts
