The Surveillance department ensures the protection of company assets team members and guests. The Health and Safety Officer is a member of the Security and surveillance department and supports the management team in improving the overall safety of the workplace. He/she Responsibility includes assessing safety enforcing safety standards and educating team members on safety issues. He/She is the custodian and ensures compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2024.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance Management
- Compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act(OSHA) e.g. training appointments inspections internal audits
- Adherence to SOPs
- Adherence to statutory regulations and best practices
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements are managed
- Internal and External audit results achieve 80% or above
- Reports meets stakeholder needs and assists in mitigating risks.
- Train Team members on safety protocols and responsible for their enforcement.
Investigations
- Injuries investigated and reported on as per OSHA requirements
- Monthly reporting on incidents and accidents
- Records maintained for 5 years: complete up to date and accessible.
- Recommendations for prevention address the risks
Health and Safety Audits
- Audits as per policies procedures and accepted standards
- Recommendations address health and safety nonconformance
- Recommendations for prevention address the risks
- Followup and measurement of recommendations
Medical Screenings
- Annual medical screening as per job functions / requirement
- Managed medical report findings as per findings
- Maintained SLA with outsourced service provider
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Understands the business environment and the strategic objectives and challenges of the overall company operation.
- Understanding of OSHA guidelines and other state and local safety regulations
- Familiarity with the tools machines and equipment used in the workplace
- Ability to teach others the established safety standards
- Processes information intelligently and analytically leading to wellinformed judgements and logical and coherent conclusions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to make contact with all levels within the company and each business unit.
Qualifications :
- LGCSE(COSC)
- Diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent essential.
- Minimum of two years related work experience.
- Ability to find creative solutions with proven problemsolving capabilities offering support where required.
- Ability to work in an environment that demands excellence time and energy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Critical thinking analytical and problemsolving skills
- Computer literacy skills and comfort with various types of technology used in the industry.
- Ability to work well as a team and interact with different groups of people
