Take the technical lead in the development of new collectors frothers and depressants based on the latest advancements in chemical analysis and synthetic techniques and technologies
Conduct complex chemical analyses of raw materials and finished products using advanced analytical techniques and instruments
Analyse test results interpret data and prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommendations for further action
Lead continuous optimisation and troubleshooting of existing collector depressant and frother chemistries
Train and mentor junior chemists providing continuous technical guidance and support
Work closely with other departments such as Product Management QC and Production to provide technical expertise support product development and ensure product quality and safety.
Assist with the scale up of new products and processes to pilot and plant scale
Oversee the transfer of new products to Production and provide technical assistance during plant trials or plant upsets
Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management and peers
Ensure adherence to good laboratory practices
Qualifications & Experience
Matric / Grade 12
Masters Degree in Organic Chemistry
Minimum 15 years experience in a research and development environment
Indepth knowledge of organic synthesis
Proven experience of transitioning projects from R&D/lab environments to fullscale production
Extensive experience running and maintaining advanced qualitative and quantitative analytical instruments e.g. HPLC GCGCMMS etc.
Excellent understanding of the Safety & Health process
