Position Summary

In this position the Business Development Specialist will participate in the business development function including but not limited to participant recruitment and retention of Surgeons support and assist the expansion of the ancillary surgical services. The BDS will drive business development and growth through building strategic industry and stakeholder relationships. Conducting and analyzing discussions identifying and evaluating market expansion and service opportunities in surgical services. The BDS will ensure the successful development of strategic business plans for hospital growth in surgical services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilites

  • Plans develops and execute strategic provider recruitment and provider employment programs while developing a comprehensive provider candidate database
  • Evaluates opportunities and promotes their physicians to grow their practices through marketing community involvement and patient satisfaction.
  • Initiates the strategies needed to recruit provider candidates for targeted markets.
  • Collaborates with Chief Hospital Administrator and board members in assessing the immediate and longterm need for recruiting targeted surgical services providers for the market; collaborates with ownership in developing strategies for attracting a proper mix of primary care specialists and surgical providers to the market area.
  • Communicate effectively about Woodlands Specialty Hospital locations and the Community as well as recruit according to the needs of the Community and/or upon request from an active member of the Hospitals medical staff that practices actively at the Hospital.
  • Conducts regular industry and market analyses seeking to identify trends challenges and changes that could or will impact current surgical services surgical business opportunities potential new market segments and potential new surgical services. Produces executive reports and presentations reflecting the results of the analyses and their potential impact on the organization.
  • Provides through application of CRM or Excel documentation a running report of surgical business development activities to leadership monthly during the designated executive meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures that all recruited personnel are well versed in WSH policies and procedures and adhere to all policies including CMS CIHQ OSHA etc.

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient related issues and adhering to all HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
  • Treat all patients visitors and staff members fairly and with respect.
  • Utilize effective communication methods and skills.
  • Explain all procedures treatments and care while remaining aware of language barriers.
  • Able to perform care in a nonjudgmental manner and recognize discrepancies between patient and personal beliefs.

Hospital Policy

  • Ensure personal appearance is always business casual and professional.
  • Responsible for wearing identification badge at all times which must be visible and above the waistline.
  • Attending all required meetings and inservice education.
  • Demonstrate flexibility when changes in assignments are necessary.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Batchelors degree (B.S.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of hospital business development and sales operations.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise.

LANGUAGE/MATH/REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software CRM and Internet software.

Work Environment

  • Welllighted heated and/or airconditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. While traveling to various locations may be subject to adverse weather conditions. Ability to lift twentyfive pounds.
