In a city facing unprecedented financial challenges Birmingham City Council is seeking a dynamic individual who can demonstrate the expertise determination and unwavering resilience required to strategically and operationally lead Rough Sleeping and Single Homeless Provision.
Birmingham City Council is the largest local authority social landlord in Europe with a stockprofile of just under 60000 properties. The Housing Solutions Service is the front door for citizens at risk of homelessness and those in housing crisis.
Presently there are many external factors affecting homelessness and rough sleeping in our city from legislative change to the rise in the costofliving fuel poverty and the national housing crisis.
You will have a successful track record of leading managing and motivating large diverse staff groups with the ability to build and maintain a highperformance culture. You will have a solid experience of managing commissioned services and operating in multiagency settings.
You will be confident and have experience in building strong partnership working arrangements with a range of stakeholders i.e. Council departments within City Housing and across the Local Authority government departments contractorsexternal partners and agencies.
We are looking for a candidate who can ensure that the service provides expert housing advice and solutions; conducts thorough assessments and investigations; timely makes referrals to other LAs and support agencies; delivers high quality interventions to those who sleep rough and makes informed homeless and homeless review decisions within statutory targets.
We are looking for someone who has achieved significant success at a senior level within the housing and/or homelessness sector a strategic thinker who has the ambidexterity to get close to the detail and empower teams to improve performance and embrace change.
We are particularly keen to see applications from people who are exceptional leaders and can confidently develop and empower staff in a changing environment and can provide the inspiration for others to make a positive difference to citizens lives.
