Job Title: Summer Student Program Assistant Summer Camp & Youth Programs
Location:Sechelt BC
Pay rate: $19.50/hr plus 4% vacation pay (total pay $20.28)
Term start: June 9 2025 August 29 2025
Working Hours: 30 hrs/ week

About the Role:
SCCSS is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Summer Student to help create afun inclusive and engaging camp experience for youth with brain differencesand other support needs. As the Program Assistant youll support theplanning and delivery of recreational programming assist during communityoutings and work closely with the Youth Services team during outreach andgroup activities. This is a great opportunity for students passionate aboutyouth engagement inclusive programming and building stronger communities.
What Youll Do
- Creates and maintains a safe inclusive and welcomingenvironment for all youth participants.
- Delivers ageappropriate programming makingadaptations as needed to ensure accessibility and engagement.
- Encourages selfregulation confidence and personaldevelopment using a strengthsbased approach.
- Plans and facilitates group activities such as artsand crafts drama cooperative games and sports.
- Assists Youth Workers in supervising youth duringonsite programs and community outings ensuring safety and wellbeing.
- Designs and implements creative and engagingprogramming tailored to the needs of youth groups.
- Participate in Youth Outreach shifts alongside YouthWorkers applying a harmreduction and relationshipbased approach.
- Ensures services are delivered in alignment with SCCSSpolicies values and legal contractual and compliance standards.
- Contributes to organizational effectiveness byassisting with other tasks as needed.
- Actively engages in daily staff planning and debriefmeetings to support cohesive team operations.
What You Bring
- Must be betweenthe ages of 15 and 30 years.
- Demonstratesrespect for diversity including race culture class gender sexualorientation and ability.
- Experienceworking with individuals from diverse backgrounds is considered an asset.
- Education ortraining in child and youth care intellectual disabilities or mental healthis an asset but not required.
- Current First AidCertificate is an asset but not required.
- Successfulcompletion of a Criminal Record Check is required.
- Manoeuvring wheelchairs; pushing and/or pulling
- Activities such as but not limited to swimmingcooking and hiking
- Significant lifting carrying stooping kneelingcrouching and/or crawling
- This position works in variouslocations across the Sunshine Coast. Ability to independently get to locationsnecessary.
