Description
Position Purpose:
Assist with and coordinate catering at all Charis Woodland Park conferences and events. Serving the Banquet Supervisor and Conference team with the planning and execution of event banquet operations including setup and teardown. The Banquet Coordinator will also assist in maintaining crowd flow and creating a pleasant guest experience throughout all meals during conferences and events.
Essential Duties:
- Work with the Banquet Supervisor to update and execute operational food service plans and menus for conferences.
- Oversee assigned duties tasks and deadlines assigned to you through .
- Organize all proposals and invoices confirm accurate invoices and send them to the appropriate channels for payment.
- Oversee the details and operations of the food service area which includes but is not limited to overseeing serving area layouts food services dcor and supplies.
- Ensure banquet areas are clean tablecloths are maintained and provide an overall pleasant atmosphere for guests and staff.
- Work with the Banquet Supervisor to provide floor plans and space relevant to the needs of the conference or event and obtain the relevant approvals from affected departments.
- Develop systems that support the functionality of simultaneous events.
- Inventory supplies and keep supply rooms organized.
- Maintain credit card expenses and report on a monthly basis according to ministry deadlines.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Banquet Supervisor.
- Attend team meetings and operations meetings as required.
- Oversee volunteers and delegate tasks during volunteer shifts.
- Assist with planning and building decorations for events.
- Assist with directing interns and volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problemsolving skills
- Must have excellent customer service and people skills
- Must have excellent organization and communication skills
- Must be able to operate a Windowsbased computer and navigate Microsoft Office Suite
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Selfstarter: able to think through processes and determine the course of action
- Ability to handle a wide variety of tasks with minimal supervision
Requirements:
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Must sign the Statement of Faith
- A high school diploma or equivalent education is required
- Charis Bible College Graduate preferred
- Must be able to lift up to 40 50 lbs
- This position involves working long days and weekends around events and conferences
- Must be able to stand for long periods during events and conferences
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule as this position involves working long days and weekends around events and conferences
- Must pass all required checks.
Experience:
- 6 months minimum office experience
- Catering/event experience is an asset but not required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in banquet and/or event catering customer service/hospitality industry experience
- Compensation is commensurate with experience
