Austin Industrial is currently seeking a Welder to join our staff located at Artesia New Mexico. They must be able to join steel components or metal plates using blueprints work orders welding procedures or oral instructions through the application of heat or electric arcwelding equipment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Uses GasMetal Arc FluxCored Arc GasTungsten Arc Submerged Arc or Shielded Metal Arc welding processes.
- Fillsholes or corrects mistakes in lead pieces and makes bulges thin and curves in metal work pieces.
- Manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal. May clean or degrease weld joint or workplace using wire brush portable grinder or chemical bath.
- Remove excess weld defective weld material slag and spatter using carbon arc gouge hand scrapper grinder or power chipper.
- Climbsup ladders or works on scaffolds to take apart textures.
- In order to protect the torch chooses place of weld based on type thickness area and expected temperature of metal.
- Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds climb stairs climb ladders and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be capable of working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.

- The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5 years of Journeyman level experience welding and pipefitting.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must Pass Weld Test
- Valid Drivers License or Any Photo ID Acceptable
- Meet physical demands as listed above
- Ability to work overtime weekends and holidays as needed by the assigned location
- Ability to operate power tools and heavy equipment
