Job Description
OVERVIEW:
The Assistant Cook supports food prep dishwashing and kitchen cleanliness as directed by the Kitchen Supervisor. In their absence follows instructions from the Corps Officers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with food preparation and production
- Sets up and cleans the dining area; mops floors after meal
- Keeps kitchen dish room pantry and storage areas clean and organized
- Follows proper food handling and hygiene practices
- Washes dishes pots pans and utensils; drains and cleans dishwasher daily
- Cleans sinks carts shelves and equipment regularly
- Returns cleaned items to proper storage
- Cleans beverage dispensers and refrigerators as needed
- Maintains clean work surfaces and floors throughout the day
- May communicate with vendors as needed
- Must have a valid ServSafe Food Handler Certificate
- Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- California Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate (required)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods
- Team Player
- Great communication skills
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
- Relevant kitchen equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
