Who are we looking for
GHD has an opportunity for a midlevel Engineer/Geologist/Scientist to work with our Contaminated Assessment Remediation (CAR) group as a CAR professional based in our Des Moines Iowa office. If you are a selfmotivated professional with excellent technical skills federal/state/local environmental regulatory knowledge and existing relationships with clients prospects and regulators then this is a great opportunity to explore!
Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Provide technical and project management services to our existing and future clients on a variety of projects.
- Prepare technical correspondence project proposals technical reports work plans and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets.
- Data compilation reduction interpretation evaluation/comparison to environmental regulatory standards.
- Interact with internal and external clients contractors and service providers.
- Depending on your role and experience conduct or direct environmental sampling and monitoring for various media and contaminants of concern by following established procedures.
- Participate in a proactive safety culture of continuous improvement.
- Client engagement and stewardship.
- Complex problem solving as it relates to environmental remediation and economic decision making.
- Balancing the triangle of scope schedule and budget to produce the best results possible for our clients.
- Develop and maintain diverse professional networks spanning the globe and multitudes of disciplines.
- Engage in opportunities in a wide range of environmental and geographical settings.
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelors or masters degree in engineering geology or environmental science.
- 510 years experience including a mix of field data evaluation and interpretation and technical report writing.
- Professional designation/license (Professional Engineer Certified Professional Geologist etc.) a plus.
- Experience with solid waste or coal combustion residual (CCR) management a plus.
- Experience preparing regulatory work plans and reports for investigation remediation and closure.
- Understanding of multimedia remedial technologies for addressing a variety of contaminants including VOCs SVOCs metals and PFAS.
- Working knowledge of the design and operation and maintenance of remediation systems.
- Proven experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple projects while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment.
- Working knowledge of methods and procedures for site characterization hydrogeologic analysis and remediation of contaminants in soil soil vapor indoor air and groundwater.
- Conduct research collect and analyze data to prepare reports and documents.
- Critical thinking and problem solving ability to identify multiple solutions to a problem.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude very strong interpersonal skills.
- Establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with superiors coworkers and clients effective collaborators are welcome.
- Selfstarter and willingness to work in a team in a fastpaced environment.
- Committed to continuing professional development.
- OSHA 40Hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Ability to travel which will include overnight travel.
- Knowledge of the Midwest market is a plus.
